Everett
Like Chelsea, Everett is located just north of Boston and along the Mystic River. Settled in 1630, this community four miles from downtown has long served as a gateway city for immigrants of diverse backgrounds.
Everett’s industrial legacy has made its vacant mills and warehouses ripe for redevelopment, and in recent years, developers are taking notice. The former Charlestown Chew factory has recently been converted into an apartment complex known as the “Batch Yard,” and the traditional two- and three-family housing stock is giving way to condo conversions. Elsewhere in Everett, shopping plazas like Gateway Center offer local conveniences with easy parking. Busy local roads like Broadway and Main Street offer family-style dining and neighborhood-scale retail. Everett also has a vibrant craft brew scene, with Night Shift Brewing, Mystic Brewery and the Short Path Distillery growing at rapid speeds. Local government goes above and beyond to foster a sense of community in Everett, not only by closing down streets for beer and food truck festivals, but also by investing in places like the Everett Recreation Center and the Werner and Glendale parks.
With a prime location near Interstate 93, frequent bus service and easy access to the MBTA’s Orange Line, Everett is an ideal location for those looking to get to and from easily, while embracing a more suburban feel.
